The Division Resurgence Manhattan Districts Guide

Every neighborhood, gate, and farming route in New York

Last updated:

Manhattan in The Division Resurgence is divided into distinct districts, each with its own mission density, safe house access, and proximity to Dark Zone gates. Agents who memorize district layout spend less time running empty streets and more time clearing landmarks within twenty-minute Dark Zone sessions or chaining open-world control points for XP toward level 20.

District overview

The playable map spans classic Division neighborhoods reimagined for mobile sessions. Western and central districts host safer PvE content; eastern districts border the contaminated Dark Zone where PvPvE rules apply.

Known districts include:

  • Clinton — Southern Manhattan entry zone; early story missions and first safe house unlocks.
  • Hell’s Kitchen — Mid-west district with dense side streets ideal for control point loops.
  • Times Square — Central hub with high landmark density and heavy AI patrols.
  • Hudson Yards — Western district connecting to multiple farming routes toward midtown.
  • Garment District — Mid-map missions and vendor access through linked safe houses.
  • Tenderloin — Transition district approaching eastern contamination border.
  • Chelsea — Two safe houses make Chelsea a critical fast-travel hub near Dark Zone gates.

Exact mission names rotate with updates, but district geography remains stable for route planning.

Base of Operations location

The Base of Operations anchors central Manhattan — the same iconic facility from the original Division. Here you craft gear, recalibrate stats at level 20, and receive mission briefings. It is not a safe house fast-travel point but serves as the narrative and crafting heart of the map.

Dark Zone border districts

Eastern districts adjacent to the Dark Zone — including portions of Tenderloin and Chelsea — place you closest to decontamination gates. Enter the Dark Zone from the gate nearest your current farming target to minimize run time inside the twenty-minute session clock.

Purple biohazard markers on the tactical map show contaminated territory. Crossing a gate switches rules instantly: loot becomes contaminated, rogues appear, and session timers activate. Read the Dark Zone Hub before first entry.

District farming routes

Early game (levels 1–15): Clinton → Hell’s Kitchen control points → Times Square landmarks. Unlock safe houses in each district for fast travel back to vendors.

Mid game (levels 15–20): Hudson Yards and Garment District missions with higher purple drop rates. Collect echoes and caches for bonus XP.

Endgame (level 20+): Chelsea or Tenderloin gate entries into Dark Zone with Targeted Loot configured. Extract via eastern extraction zones or fall back to Chelsea safe houses.

Safe house connections

Nine safe houses span districts — see Safe Houses guide for exact locations. Chelsea hosts two safe houses, making it the fastest regroup point for repeated Dark Zone attempts. Clinton and Hell’s Kitchen safe houses support early-story agents before eastern gate access unlocks.

Each safe house provides:

  • Stash and inventory management
  • Resupply boxes for ammo and consumables
  • Vendors for gear purchases
  • Smuggling Ring operatives (in Safe Rooms) for Dark Zone item extraction

Landmarks and control points

Control points — neutralize and defend for recurring loot and XP. Best density in Hell’s Kitchen and Times Square for Best PvE Build Demolitionist farming.

Landmarks — red icons marking high-difficulty AI zones. Open-world landmarks scale with agent level; Dark Zone landmarks drop contaminated gear requiring extraction.

DZ leaders — boss events in the Dark Zone awarding chest loot; plan district entry routes that place you near active leader spawns.

Contamination filter by district

Open-world western districts do not raise contamination filter levels. Eastern border areas and all Dark Zone territory increase filter percentage over time. At one hundred percent you die rapidly — fast-travel to any Safe House to reset before re-entering eastern content.

Pair district routes with Builds Hub loadouts and Weapon Tier List priorities.

  • Unlock every safe house before serious Dark Zone farming — death respawns depend on nearest unlocked point.
  • Mark gate locations on the tactical map before squad sessions.
  • Run district missions toward echo clusters to double XP and lore progress.
  • After Dark Zone death, regroup in Chelsea safe house, restock, re-enter within the same twenty-minute session only if timer allows.

Manhattan includes nine major districts such as Clinton, Hell's Kitchen, Times Square, Hudson Yards, Garment District, Tenderloin, and Chelsea, plus the eastern Dark Zone contaminated area.

Which district is best for entering the Dark Zone?

Chelsea and Tenderloin border Dark Zone gates on the western edge of the contaminated zone. Chelsea also has two safe houses for fast regrouping after deaths or extractions.

Where is the Base of Operations located?

The Base of Operations sits in central Manhattan as the main crafting and mission hub. It is separate from district safe houses but serves as the narrative center of the map.
