The Division Resurgence Randomized Safe Codes

Why some Manhattan crates reject every community code—and how Code Clues reveal your personal combination.

Last updated:

After clearing every entry on All Safe Codes, you will still find encrypted crates that reject 3580, 1350, 1122, and every other shared pin. Of the 21 community-confirmed crates in The Division Resurgence, three use per-character randomized codes. The rest of the 33 commendation slots are still unmapped or artifact-gated — but these three are the ones that break copy-paste guides.

The three confirmed randomized crates

AreaCode Clue to readNotes
Clinton, west of Lazarus Rest (post-it / ladder climb)Code Clue 11Personal digits only
Garment District — The Cavern Safe HouseCode Clue 8Pickup sits to the right of the crate
South alley off the Serotentia / Madison routeCode Clue 4Near the static 1105 tent cluster

Open Inventory → Collectibles → Cryptic Clues, find the matching Code Clue number, and type the four digits from your clue text. A friend’s Cavern code will not work on your agent.

How to identify a randomized lock

Static failure pattern: You stand at The Cavern or the Clinton west crate and every wiki pin fails. That is expected — stop brute-forcing.

Code Clue drops: Intel pickups spawn beside the crate. Collect them before you open the keypad UI so the journal entry exists.

Account-specific behavior: Two cross-play friends on the same Ubisoft region still see different digits. Share solving steps, not final numbers, when coaching.

Early guides that publish a “static” Cavern code are outdated. Community video verification treats Cavern as random.

Code Clue workflow

  1. Clear patrols — keypad input roots you in place.
  2. Pick up the Code Clue artifact tied to the crate.
  3. Open Cryptic Clues and read the four-digit answer.
  4. Enter carefully on mobile; mis-taps waste the clear window.
  5. If the clue is missing, re-enter the district once and pulse-scan for the collectible.

Bulwark agents can hold the room while a teammate reads the journal aloud for their own character — each player still inputs a personal code.

Relationship to static safes and SHD crates

  1. Static keypad safes — shared pins like Spring Blossom 3580 or BoO 1350 (see the full table).
  2. Randomized keypad safes — the three rows above.
  3. SHD secret crates — climb-to-open caches with no keypad; see SHD Crates.

The Safe Code Finder marks randomized rows with ???? so you do not waste a firefight typing Spring Blossom’s code at The Cavern.

Farming value versus time cost

Randomized crates drop comparable loot to static ones—gear rolls, crafting mats, Phoenix Credits, and commendation progress toward Decipherer / NYC Collector. Solve them while you are already in Clinton or Garment District rather than as a dedicated marathon.

They are poor choices during Speed Run Challenges clocks. Bank the timed clear first, then sweep crates.

Platform notes for iOS, Android, PC, and Steam

Steam launch on August 5, 2026 does not change randomization — only Ubisoft account linking matters. Touch controls make journal reading fast; PC players should bind inventory and map keys adjacently. Disable aggressive low-resolution modes if clue text is blurry.

Troubleshooting checklist

  • Confirm you are at one of the three randomized landmarks, not a lookalike static crate.
  • Re-read Code Clue 4, 8, or 11 after inventory cleanup.
  • Ignore outdated “Cavern = ####” posts.
  • Use Cryptic Clues only when wall art exists — these three are inventory-driven.
  • Ask squadmates to solve their own clue text instead of sharing digits.

Return to the Safe Codes Hub for overview links or Getting Started if the Collectibles tab is still unfamiliar.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers agents ask most often.

Are randomized safe codes different on mobile and PC?

The algorithm is account-based through Ubisoft Connect, not device-based. Your code should match across linked platforms, but it may differ from another player's code for the same crate.

Where do Code Clue items spawn?

They appear near randomized encrypted crates, often after you approach the lock or clear nearby enemies. Check your intel journal immediately after pickup.

Can I skip randomized crates entirely?

Yes, but you miss mod mats and gear rolls that help before Dark Zone play. Static and cryptic crates cover most early progression; randomized ones matter more mid-game.

Do randomized codes expire?

Some rotate on daily reset or district re-entry. If a previously working personal code fails, collect a fresh Code Clue before trying legacy notes.
